W.L. Henderson photograph album, 1918-1919.

The papers are comprised of one album and one folder. The album was sent by W.L. Henderson of London, England to the Ford Motor Company Secretary's Office; received May 12, 1931. Accompanying letter describes the arduous process of turning a trail through the mountains into a functional road for motor vehicles. Henderson states in his letter that a Ford truck was the first motorized vehicle to use the road, and that it was the first to travel from Bushire to Shiraz. The album contains snapshots of the donor, the landscape, close-ups of the terrain, cobbled causeways, ancient carvings, villages and tourist sites. There are, however, no photographs of the Ford truck and few of the road itself. Acc. 00.1334.65.
